Buddha Bowls for easy health

Buddhist Monks live on Buddha Bowls

In Southeast-Asia the Buddhist monks walk the towns every morning with bowls to receive their healthy meal donations from townspeople. The Burmese monks I photographed here are healthy and lean on a simple diet of rice, vegetables, and fruit.

Buddha Bowl Recipe

You can prepare your own easily-prepared Buddha bowl for quick and easy health. Experiment with the following recipe I made and make any substitutions that appeal to you:

Fillings

– 1 cup cooked grain (brown rice, quinoa, or couscous)

– 2 handfuls of leafy greens (romaine lettuce, spinach, or kale)

– 1 15 oz can of legumes (garbanzo beans, black, or pinto beans)

– 1 tomato cubed

– handful of chopped cruciferous veggies (broccoli florets, red cabbage)

– 1 sliced avocado

– ¼ chopped red onion (or other onions)

– Fruit (blueberries, chopped mango, or apples)

Sauce

  • 1/3rd cup tahini
  • 3 tbs lemon juice
  • 2 tbs maple syrup
  • 5 tbs water
  • Or you can go Mexican with salsa for a Burito Bowl.

Try a Buddha Bowl for the easily-prepared nutrients and fiber you need for optimum health.
